Where are we located?
Tucked away in the quiet sea-side village of Mendira, every aspect of Villa NiIaya’s design has been carefully considered to inspire relaxation and tranquillity at the end of a forest cul de sac, facing onto absolute beachfront with sweeping views directly across to the islands of Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan, with the sun rising over Lombok to the left and setting behind Padang Bai to the West on the right side.
Just 5 km before Candi Dasa on the south coast, we're just 90 minutes from Bali’s International Airport in Denpasar, along the swift and safe Kusamba Bypass via Sanur.
Our village offers a peaceful village ambience and a gorgeous seaside setting close to magnificent tropical mountains and stunning temples - no beach hawkers or noisy intrusions .... this is authentic Bali at its best.
Mendira is a small, hard-working and relatively prosperous village where local people warmly greet you. Traditional values remain important in Mendira, where television is never heard, but the sounds of children practicing gamelan is a pleasure to witness as you stroll the village in the evening, perhaps on the way to one of several local restaurants offering delicious fresh seafood and other excellent local produce.
Collectable Textiles from the world-renowned village of Tengenan
Just 20 minutes’ drive is the famous 'Bali Aga' (or 'original Bali') village of Tengenan, where a uniquely different village life has coexisted alongside the mainstream Balinese culture, undisturbed for centuries. it is here that you’ll find the beautiful and highly-collectable Double Ikat cloth being woven and, of course is still being worn by its inhabitants who strongly guard against modernist incursions. You can visit local homes to see it woven and also purchase directly from the people who make this beautiful cloth.
An aquarium at the bottom of the garden!
Swimming, fishing, boating and safe sea swimming from our small white-sand beach, plus fabulous snorkelling are alternatives to the 14 m. infinity pool overlooking the sea. you can even have a boat come and collect you directly from the beach at the front of the villa.
