If you’ve been thinking about this destination, as I had for many years, it more than repays the journey. Madagascar is amazing, and constantly surprising.

Madagascar, the island that time forgot, is a destination like no other, for more than 90% of its wildlife is endemic. Much of it is micro-endemic occurring in discrete areas of the island and nowhere else.

The Red Island, as it’s known, is as diverse a place as one could imagine: primary rain forests the length of the east coast abound with extraordinary flora and fauna, whilst the west coast's dry forests and rock forms present vastly different landscapes and wildlife. Beautiful beaches, hideaway islands, kilometres of verdant canals teeming with birdlife  ... all of these you'll experience on this tour.

In my first week I sighted nine species of lemurs between the western dry forests and the southeastern rainforests ... there's more than 110 species, but each sighting is a joy!

Malagasy people are a delight, with a distinctive culture and language. French colonial presence may account for their influence on the cuisine, for dining in Madagascar is a pleasure.

Join me in late October/ early November, at the best time to travel when the rainforests are most comfortable to explore, and birdlife is abundant.

Madagascar is definitely for the adventurer in you, but that doesn't mean you have to forgo comfort.

I designed this tour with two expert guides to create a panoramic travel experience, with 4-star and 4.5-star accommodations chosen for their stunning locations, with flights replacing an extra week of 4x4 travel, so that you can spend more time at the destinations, rather than bumping along notoriously poor roads.
