Mendira is a small, hard-working and relatively prosperous village where local people warmly greet you. Traditional values remain important in Mendira, where television is never heard, but the sounds of children practicing gamelan is a pleasure to witness as you stroll the village in the evening, perhaps on the way to one of several local restaurants offering delicious fresh seafood and other excellent local produce.
